An official parade marches through the Old Market Square in Rouen. Although civilians, the men's steps are almost military. Their heads are bare, while the crowd watching them wear a beret or hat and have an umbrella to protect them from the Rouen drizzle. They carry wreaths to the foot of the Joan of Arc statue.

In May 1931: A festival was held commemorating the fifth centenary of the death of Joan of Arc in Rouen ; 15,000 people attend the Military Festival (boats on the Seine). A magnificent historical procession, leaving from the Old Market Square and travelling through the town to remember the arrival of Charles VII in Rouen in 1449.
