Notes

'Turkey Time' is a delightful and skilled portrait of a typical Christmas day in the 1960’s. It is unusual to have such good interior shots in low light conditions. As founder members of the Clacton Cine Club, Joan Hammond and and her husband Ted had the experience to achieve these results. From the early alarm call to put the turkey in the oven, to the guests “watching” the Queens speech, the film is made with a great deal of humour. Details such as the kettle being put on for tea and the original party games - like the “mummy” game - make this an outstanding record of domestic life in 1961. The dachshund, commonly called a “sausage” dog, was called Chips.
