Armistice Day is held on the 11th November and commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany. The end of the war was made official at the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918.
The 1933 Armistice Parade marches past the cenotaph in front of the Maid's Head Hotel - an "empty" tomb erected in honour of those who died elsewhere, before entering the Erpingham gate to Norwich Cathedral. Wreaths are laid in memory of the millions of servicemen and civilians who died in the conflict.
